The Perfect Picnic

As summer approaches, so does the inevitable heat that comes with the season in Texas. With only a few remaining cool(er) days left in spring, we are taking advantage of truly delightful weather with playgrounds and picnics. We are grabbing a printed quilt, throw pillows, a picnic basket, and making our own shade. Don’t forget bug spray for the littles!

Of course, no picnic would be complete without tasty bites! I’m packing these crostinis (it’s tomato season!), a salad sampler trio, lots of fresh fruit, and a grab and go dessert.

Classic Picnic Basket with a twist

Target has so many great options right now but I loved that this one had the classic wicker design with the modern functionality of an added insulated section.

Here is another wicker option (love the included blanket) and a backpack version with room for two bottles of wine!

The prettiest quilt

The best way to feel like you’re in the French countryside (and not in West Texas) is to grab a floral quilt with enough room for the family. I loved this color way too. These are 100% cotton, machine-washable, AND reversible!

cutest beach umbrella

By far the cutest way to make your own shade is with this adorable beach umbrella!

Tasty salad sampler

These can be served alone, on crackers, or as a sandwich (grab fresh bread or a buttery croissant).

Curry Chicken Salad

What makes a staple like chicken salad even better? Add curry.

Not Your Mama’s Pimento Cheese

Only in the south can a dish comprised primarily of cheese be found in a salad sampler!

Watermelon Blueberry Feta Salad

There are so many varieties of melon salads but, in my opinion, this one takes the cake!

delicious desserts

You can’t go wrong with cookies and, even though these are gluten-free, they are nothing short of brilliant.

These are a Jordan family favorite! Make sure you grab one before they’re all gone.
